Two rounds have already passed in the long-awaited event: Candidates Matches from Kazan. So, who will face Anand for the World Title?! Aronian was seen as the clear favourite on various websites and our poll didn't make a separate opinion. But there are still many games to go, we can enjoy their fights much longer and see if the final standings will look like our predictions.
Many draws so far; only one decisive game appeared in today's encounter, between Veselin Topalov and Gata Kamsky. You can check more on the official website. On chessvibes you will also find the game's analysis by Peter Doggers; I liked very much Topalov's move in the opening: 9.0-0-0, entering a very sharp position. After a difficult struggle, with the players swimming in muddy waters, Kamsky managed to prevent all White's threats and the game ended with a full point for him.
All the other games finished peacefully, so we can still wonder: who's going to be the first?!
Aronian, your favourite, had a great chance yesterday to win against Grischuk, but it was not to be...it always happens and it will always happen, as long as chess will continue to be played:) A detailed analysis on the first game from the match between Aronian and Grischuk, in English language, can be found on Chess is Translation.
Underneath you can watch the video version, but in Russian language:
Looking forward to watch the games of tomorrow! And don't forget that the Women's European Championship will start as well, in Tbilisi, Georgia!
